Another long day at the hospital, but John has now got his central line installed and Spinal Fluid/Bone Marrow samples taken.
Poor old John had a rather painful session when he has blood samples taken. The doctor who was taking his samples missed the area where the anesthetic cream had been applied, dug around for a while trying to find the way into his vein and looked as if she wondered why he wasnt very happy with her skills. At least for him the line insertion should mean a break from needles.
He is reasonable comfortable most of the time from his new appendage and the sites where the bone marow was taken.
Well the countdown now for the chemo to start on Thursday next week and we should also finally have the staging results. The end of the beginning is approaching.
One thing which has helped was being in the clinic and talking to other families who have gone through the chemo regime. The one message which we will hang onto is one saying 'hold on.. things will get easier .. and hopefully better.
